Scientific Name: Salmo trutta linnaeus
Brown trout live mainly in rivers and in some subalpine lakes, New Zealand wide.
They are more difficult for anglers to catch and will hide with movement on river and lake edges.
You will need to carry a valid NZ sport fishing licence.
