Parininihi Marine Reserve

It's main underwater feature is Pariokariwa Reef. This1,800ha marine reserve, has possibly the most unique sponge gardens. The diversity of species encrusting the reef is amongst the highest recorded anywhere in New Zealand and ranks highly internationally.
