Hauraki Gulf Islands

Protect our Hauraki Gulf

Heading to the Hauraki Gulf?
Check your belongings for pests | Clean your boat and gear before you go
Close all food in sealed containers | Reduce your waste and take it home

Out on the islands in the Hauraki Gulf, residents along with Auckland Council and
the Department of Conservation are doing everything they can to restore biodiversity,
to trap and control predators.

The invasive Caulerpa seaweed might be the highest-profile marine invader but it's not the only one.
Please check you boat, anchor and chain, fishing & dive gear, are clean before you move on.

Lookout for rats, mice, ants and plague skinks and other possible pests on your vessel.
These off-shore islands provide sanctuaries for our unique native species as there's plenty to
love about Auckland's sea birds to kiwi, tuatara and takahe.

Report any Pest sightings to 0800 DOC HOT (0800 362 468)
