Maori Name: Hoka | Scientific Name: Pseudophycis bachus
Found throughout New Zealand. They are more common in southern waters and caught mainly in the Canterbury Bight and off Westland. Spring and summer see red cod caught inshore before they move to deeper waters in the winter.
